Collector To Collector

Buying & Selling Safely

The Bird House helps Freebird collectors find and connect with each other. Buyers and sellers arrange payment, shipping, and the transaction directly, so a little care goes a long way.

Know what The Bird House does — and doesn't do

The Bird House is a marketplace for discovering listings and connecting collectors. The Bird House does not currently process payments, hold funds, arrange shipping, or guarantee transactions between members.

Before You Buy

Review the listing photos, description, condition, size, and any disclosed modifications carefully.

Ask the seller questions if anything about the boots or listing is unclear.

Request additional or current photos when you need more confidence about condition or authenticity.

Be cautious if someone pressures you to complete a purchase immediately.

When You Sell

Describe the boots accurately, including wear, damage, repairs, alterations, or other modifications.

Use clear, current photos that represent the item you are actually selling.

Keep a record of your conversations and the details you agree on with the buyer.

Confirm payment according to the payment service you choose before shipping the item.

Payment

Buyer and seller are responsible for choosing and agreeing on a payment method.

Review the protections, fees, and rules of the payment service before sending money.

Be wary of requests involving unusual payment arrangements, overpayments, gift cards, or sending money back to someone.

Never share passwords, verification codes, or other account credentials with another member.

Shipping

Agree on shipping cost and method before completing the transaction.

Sellers should consider using trackable shipping and keeping the receipt and tracking information.

Buyers should make sure the seller has the correct shipping address before the item is sent.

Consider additional insurance or signature confirmation for higher-value shipments.

Trust Your Instincts

If something doesn't feel right

Slow down before sending money or shipping an item. Inconsistent information, pressure to act quickly, suspicious payment instructions, or a deal that seems dramatically out of line with the listing are good reasons to ask more questions or walk away.

See something concerning?

If you encounter a suspicious listing or concerning behavior from another member, don't continue the transaction. Reporting tools are coming to The Bird House; in the meantime, contact us so we can review the account or listing.
